Position: Minister of Music & Arts Reports
Status: Part-Time
Salary Range: $30,000 to $40,000
Reports To: Senior Pastor
Location: Onsite
The ABC Minister of Music & Arts is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the worship ministry and artistic elements within the church. This includes planning and leading worship services, integrating creative arts into services, and ensuring that all worship experiences align with the church's mission and values. The Minister of Music and Arts works closely with the senior pastor, musicians, vocalists, and the AV Team, to facilitate meaningful and engaging worship that honors God and inspires and enhances congregational worship and fellowship. Key Responsibilities
Worship Service Planning:
- Plan and coordinate the music and arts components of all worship services, including music selection, multimedia, and artistic elements.
- Collaborate with senior pastor to ensure worship aligns with sermon themes and the spiritual direction of the church.
- Prepare weekly worship service outlines
Leadership and Team Management:
- Recruit, and oversee the musicians, vocalists, dancers, verse speaking choir, and the AV Team.
- Schedule and organize regular rehearsals and meetings for worship team members.
Creative Arts Integration:
- Incorporate various forms of creative arts, such as drama, dance, visual arts, and media, into worship services and special events.
- Collaborate with artists and creative individuals within the congregation to explore new ways of worship expression.
Administration:
- Annually submit the worship ministry budget. Oversee the purchasing and maintenance of music, instruments, sound equipment, and other worship-related resources.
- Ensure that all copyright and licensing regulations (e.g., CCLI) are adhered to.
- Manage the production and distribution of worship-related media, such as videos, slides, and other visual aids.
- Responsible for the inventory of all Music and Arts material and equipment.
Spiritual Leadership:
- Display a heart of worship and discipleship within the worship team and the congregation.
- Mentor and encourage worship team members, to grow in their faith and musical abilities.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Minimum requirement: Bachelor's degree in music, worship arts, ministry, or related field.
- 3-5 years of liturgical leadership experience.
Skills:
- Proficient in vocal and/or instrumental abilities.
- Ability to direct and lead a diverse team of musicians, vocalists, and other creative artists.
- Knowledge of various worship styles and music genres, with the ability to adapt worship to different congregational needs.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Ability to read music.
- Knowledge of worship software and multimedia tools.
- Proficient with African American sacred choral music, gospel, other genres in the worship tradition of the black church, and non-African American sacred choral music.
Personal Characteristics:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and church members.
- Creativity, flexibility, and adaptability in worship and arts ministry.
