Interim Pastor Opportunity
Position Overview
The Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a full-time interim pastor who is called by God and equipped to effectively preach and teach His Word. The ideal candidate should possess the biblical and spiritual qualities outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. Applicants must be born-again, baptized believers in Jesus Christ, capable of fulfilling the spiritual needs of the congregation through visitations, prayer, conducting weddings and funerals, and administering the Ordinances of the Church.
Our church is looking for a visionary leader with strong skills to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and execute the Great Commission, with the goal of increasing the Kingdom of God. The interim pastor should demonstrate the ability to teach sound Baptist doctrine, engage in pastoral care, and direct Christian growth and development.
About Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church
Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church is in Fayetteville, in the Sandhills region of Southeast North Carolina. Fayetteville is known for its cultural diversity and strong military presence. Established in 1860, Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church is one of the oldest African American churches in North Carolina, with a rich history spanning 165 years. The church currently has an active membership of 350 and supports approximately 28 ministries.
Interim Pastor Qualifications
- Be a licensed and ordained minister in the Baptist faith and doctrine, in good standing.
- Current pastors applying must provide a letter from their denominational leader (elders, deacons, Baptist association, etc.) verifying licensure, ordination, and good standing. The letter should be written, signed, dated, and include the title and email address/phone number of the author.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Senior Pastor, with responsibility for overseeing the administrative and daily activities, as well as all ministries and departments of a Christian/Baptist church. Experience limited to oversight of only one ministry or department does not meet this requirement.
- Ability to provide leadership to the pastoral staff.
- Master's degree in divinity (Doctorate preferred).
- Proven ability to teach and preach the Word effectively.
- Familiarity with Baptist doctrine and the church's mission.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across all ages and genders.
- Demonstrated financial awareness and responsibility.
- Strong orientation toward pastoral care and growth.
