POSITION VACANCY
PASTOR
Big Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church is a predominantly African American congregation, which dates back to 1891 and has been in existence for 133 years. Our church is located in Brunswick County, the southeastern most part of North Carolina. We are a coastal community located approximately 7 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. We currently have a congregation of approximately 150 members. We are prayerfully and meditatively seeking a pastor called by God to lead our church to higher heights in the name of Jesus. Our Sunday School begins at 9:15 a.m. and our worship service is at 10:00 a.m. on the 1 st through the 4 th Sunday of each month. Prayer Meeting and Bible Study is every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
PASTORAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Licensed and ordained as a minister in the Baptist faith.
- Be a visionary with sound judgment and discernment.
- Have a minimum of three to five years (preferred) of pastoral experience.
- Have at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited College/University or Theological training (preferred).
- Exemplify biblical qualities as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
- Ability and willingness to use technology in ministry.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/EXPECTATIONS
- Preaching and Teaching
- Possess effective communication skills (written and oral)
- Growth oriented and pastoral care capability.
- Committed to continuing education and development.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively work with the congregation across all ages and genders.
- Possess effective administration skills and able to organize and lead staff.
- Caring for the needs of God’s people by counseling, prayer, and ministry wherever needed, including visiting the sick and shut-in.
- Administering the church ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper
- Leadership and coordination of support for the church’s auxiliaries and outreach on local, national, and international levels.
- Must be willing to support The General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Inc., The National Baptist Convention, Inc., Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention, and The Women’s Baptist Home and Foreign Mission of North Carolina Inc.
HOW TO APPLY
- All interested and qualified persons must submit an initial candidate’s package by mail to the Pastoral Search Committee consisting of the following documents:
- Cover Letter of introduction stating your interest
- Four (4) letters of recommendation (1 current pastor, 1 Deacon or church leader and 2 personal).
- A current resume that includes a summary of relevant ministerial, professional, and educational experiences.
- Copies of licenses and ordination
- Copy of certificates or diplomas of degrees completed
- We will not consider incomplete packages.
- We will contact the final group of candidates and invite them to worship with us.
- Final candidates must consent to a reference check, a background report or “investigative consumer report”, a drug screening test and credit and financial history review, (performed through an outside third-party agency). All investigative reports will be treated in a confidential manner.
The Pastoral Search Committee will acknowledge receipt of all candidate packages.
The final candidate will serve a one year minimal interim pastoral period of ministry prior to installation.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary and benefits will be negotiated based upon the qualifications of the successful candidate.
