Oak Grove Baptist Church, Sterling, Virginia is in Loudoun County near Dulles International Airport. It was founded in October 1868 by the Rev. Robert Woodson, Pastor of the Zion Baptist Church of Alexandria, Virginia. We are a medium sized African American congregation, in a diverse growing community with over two hundred on our membership roll. We have over fifteen active ministries.
Oak Grove Baptist Church is a member of the Northern Virginia Baptist Association, Baptist General Convention of Virginia, Progressive National Baptist Convention, and the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention
The Pastor will be the spiritual leader of the church by first seeking direction and guidance from God on behalf of the congregation. The Pastor must be upright, of good moral and blameless character as outlined in Scripture, with spiritual maturity, a gifted teacher, willing to serve humbly, and preacher of God's Word. Being led by the Holy Spirit, the Pastor should strengthen and grow the congregation spiritually by preparing relevant teaching, preaching, pastoral care, and community outreach to meet the needs of a multi-generational and diverse community.
The Oak Grove Baptist Church family is in search of a dynamic and energetic individual to serve as Senior Pastor. The ideal candidate will be a visionary with exceptional interpersonal, pastoral and spiritual leadership skills. The applicant must be licensed and ordained as a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and be baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost according to Acts 2:4 and Acts 2:38. The Pastor must be able to edify and grow the congregants through the preaching and teaching of God's Word.
The responsibilities of the Senior Pastor shall include but are not limited to presiding over Church business meetings; supervising, or delegating supervision of all employees; administering the sacrament of Holy Communion; performing baptisms; participating in church sponsored activities; and conducting home-going services, premarital counseling and marriage ceremonies. The Pastor must be personable, know church protocol, provide pastoral care and counseling and support ministries that meet the needs of every age. The Pastor shall serve as the administrator and manager of the Church.
