SENIOR PASTOR VACANCY
West Chestnut Street Baptist Church is a vibrant, diverse, and growing community of faith, committed to serving God. We are seeking a dedicated, passionate, and experienced Senior Pastor to lead our congregation in spiritual growth and service. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep commitment to the ministry. The candidate must be able to fulfill the spiritual needs of the congregation through preaching of the Word, visitations, prayer, officiating weddings, funerals and administering the ordinances of the church. The candidate must also possess the biblical and spiritual qualities as outlined in Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1: 5-9.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Uphold WCSBC's Constitution and Bylaws, Mission Statement, Vision, Values, and Beliefs
- Practice scripture-based preaching
- Engage in regular prayer and reflection and set an example for the congregation
- Prioritize personal spiritual growth and maintain a commitment to continual education and development
- Plan and conduct Sunday worship service
- Focus on Sunday School and Bible Study lessons to encourage and challenge the congregation
- Implement a vision for leading intergenerational ministries with a focus on ministries for youth and adults
- Develop a total Christian Education program for all ministries of the Church
- Develop programs and strategies that contribute to the overall financial health of the church
- Supervise the general business of the church and its paid staff
- Act as moderator of the church business meeting
- Work with church leadership and staff to establish and execute a vision and strategic plan for the church's growth and leadership development
- Coordinate with Associate Ministers to visit the sick and shut-in members of the church
- Perform pastoral duties including conducting dedications and baptisms and officiating weddings and funerals
- Coordinate and lead evangelism efforts
- Support members with personal and/or spiritual challenges
- Work collaboratively with deacons, board of trustees, church officers, and committees/auxiliaries as they perform their assigned responsibilities
- Engage with other ministry leaders
- Maintain an active presence in the community as an ambassador for the church
- Cooperate with the local association, state convention, and Progressive National Baptist Convention leadership in matters of mutual interest and concerns

SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Be a licensed and ordained minister in the Baptist faith
- Have at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited College/University and Theological Seminary training (preferred)
- A minimum of 1 year of pastoral ministry experience is required; more than 1 is preferred
- Be a visionary with sound judgment and discernment
- Possess effective communication skills (written and oral)
- Proficiency in computer and technology skills; strong digital literacy preferred
- Growth-oriented and pastoral care capability
- Demonstrate financial awareness and responsibility
- Committed to continuing education and development
- Demonstrate ability to work effectively with a congregation across all demographics
- Possess effective administration skills and able to organize and lead staff
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods during Church worship services and special events
- Limited domestic travel
