Tabernacle Baptist Church has been in existence for 117 years (established in 1906). The church ministries include our Deacon Board, Trustees Board, Church School, New Members Orientation, Adult Bible Study, Adult Choir ministry, Youth Choir Ministry, Youth ministry, Mission Ministry, Adult & Jr. Ushers ministry, Food Pantry ministry, Media ministry, Hugs from Home (college students outreach) ministry.
Tabernacle Baptist Church is associated with the National Baptist Convention USA, General Baptist State Convention of Illinois and Wood River Baptist District Association.
Tabernacle Baptist Church is located in Moline, II, a city with a population of 42,985 (2020 census). Moline is part of a region called the Quad-Cities (Rock Island, Moline, East Moline, IL; Davenport, IA, and Bettendorf, IA, added in 1948). The Quad-Cities have a population of 384,055 (2020 census). The Quad-Cities area is located about three hours west of Chicago, Illinois, two and a half hours east of Des Moines, lowa, and four hours north of St. Louis, Missouri. Many other cities are within a 120-to-300-mile radius of the Quad Cities area.
The church is prayerfully seeking a full-time pastor who is called by God and equipped to effectively preach and teach the Word of God. The candidate must be able to fulfill the spiritual needs of the congregation through visitations, prayer, conducting weddings, funerals and administering the ordinances of the church. The candidate must also possess the biblical and spiritual qualities as outlined in Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1: 5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-3.
Pastor Qualifications
- Be a licensed and ordained minister in the Baptist faith.
- Be a visionary with sound judgment and discernment.
- Have a minimum of five years (preferred) of pastoral experience.
- Have at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited College/University and Theological Seminary training (preferred).
- Possess effective communication skills (written and oral).
- Growth oriented and pastoral care capability.
- Demonstrate financial awareness and responsibility.
- Committed to continuing education and development.
- Demonstrate ability to work effectively with a congregation across all ages and genders.
- Possess effective administration skills and able to organize and lead staff.
- Three letters of recommendation (clergy, layperson, and personal).
- Copies of license, ordination, transcripts of educational accomplishments.

Interview/Selection Process: Each applicant's information (resume, credentials, references, etc.) will be carefully reviewed for consideration. Candidates deemed a potential fit by the committee will be asked to proceed with an interview. Once the interviews of candidates have been completed, a short list of candidates will be selected by the committee. They will then be asked to prepare/present a sermon and teach a lesson. Once this has been completed, recommended candidates will be presented to the church to cast their votes for the next pastor.
